W08 Entrepreneurial Journal – Overcoming Challenges

This week’s study on Overcoming Challenges deeply impacted me. It reminded me that the path of entrepreneurship is not meant to be smooth, but sacred—a journey of faith, endurance, and growth. The messages from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and President Thomas S. Monson especially resonated with me. Elder Holland’s story in “Good Things to Come” touched my heart as he described the struggling young father who kept walking despite discouragement. His words—“Don’t you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. Trust God.”—felt like personal advice for my own entrepreneurial path.

President Monson’s message, “Looking Back and Moving Forward,” strengthened my belief that challenges refine our faith and shape our character. He reminded me that “mortality is a period of testing,” but that God never leaves us alone in our trials. I realized that in both business and life, our hardest days can become defining days if we respond with humility, patience, and faith.

From an entrepreneurial perspective, the stories of perseverance—whether Brigham Young’s temple project or David Carrington’s recovery after being diagnosed with cancer—reminded me that true leadership comes from balancing resilience with purpose. Obstacles are not signs of failure but invitations to grow wiser and stronger.

This week, I committed to approach my own business setbacks with more gratitude and trust. Instead of rushing to solve every problem, I want to pause, learn, and realign with my deeper purpose. I’m also learning that involving my family and close friends in my journey gives me strength and perspective I cannot find alone.

Entrepreneurship, I’ve come to see, is a spiritual as well as practical pursuit. As Elder Holland said, blessings come “soon, late, or only in heaven”—but they come. My task is to keep walking faithfully.
